Home Made Palmier

I’ve made Palmier‘s twice now from my kitchen, and I had no idea my husband liked this treat until he ordered one at a cafe. To surprise him, I made some at home and he was really happy! It takes no effort at all to make them and no recipe either really!

I use the following ingredients and then just produce them:
Half a sheet of Puff Pastry (thawed)
2 or 3 teaspoons of Granulated Sugar

I then sprinkle some sugar on my work surface, and roll out my puff pastry on top of the sugar – so sugar gets into the the pastry.

When I’ve made it to the dimensions I like, I sprinkle more sugar on top, and I fold in by quarters until they meet in the middle. I then slice them about 1cm thick as my palmiers are smaller than the usual (since I only use half a sheet).

I baked them until it’s golden brown on the back, and flip them. It normally takes around 5 to 7 minutes per side in a 400F oven. I let them sit a little bit out of the oven for it to set up and enjoy with tea! 🙂

The next time I make this, I think I’m going to make Cinnamon Sugar Palmier as I read about that a few days ago and thought it was an excellent ideal! 🙂

Baker Boys – Apple Cinnamon Pull Apart

Ah, anyone who knows me well, know I go insane for sweet stuff. I have a new love currently, and I don’t want to talk much about it… or they’ll be none for me. But, it’s from Baker Boys Bakery and they’re known as Apple Cinnamon Pull Apart. They are a fantastic treat to start my day with – for breakfast, and to end all my meals with!! I just cut up a little piece and pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds, and the warm icing melts and it becomes a dream come true!

It’s got all the cinnamon bun goodness in little pull apart pieces, baked in a ring pan – or I would call it a halo! I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or bad as I munch on it through the day… and by the end of the day, I have no idea how much I’ve had. I think it’s a good thing, as it tastes wonderful!

What I love most about this is the sweet apple chunks I get throughout, and it become warm and tender after I’ve microwaved it. It’s like a wonderful apple pie, but instead of a crust, it’s on cinnamon bun pieces! 🙂 I would recommend you go try it for yourself, but please leave some in the store for me!

IKEA Restaurant – Calgary, Alberta

This morning, we went to IKEA, we needed to pick some stuff up from IKEA, and made a morning out of it! 🙂 Of course, we started by arriving 10ish, just in time for breakfast!! Breakfast at IKEA has always been affordable, and it’s not bad for what you’re getting, and the amount you’re receiving!

We of course have the $1 breakfast meal, and add things to it!! The breakfast includes Scrambled eggs, sausages, and home fries. The eggs are always a little funny, but it’s pretty good with the remedy for all weird food — ketchup! I must say, I really enjoy the home fries (potato chucks), and for me, instead of ketchup, I like the maple syrup that goes with pancakes! I know, it’s sounds funny… but, my husband likes it with Ranch dressing… so, you decide who is weirder!

Today, my addition thing that I had with my $1 breakfast was Organic crepes stuffed with spinach and cheese. It looked a little funny, but it tasted good. My husband had Bacon and French Toast.

The French toast was interesting… it was dense, but it made up for it as it was a Cinnamon Toast! 🙂 If you’re going for Breakfast, be sure to be there before 11AM!
