On Food Network Canada this week on Recipe to Riches the category is Cookies and Squares, which truly was an exciting week for me. Both things, I LOVE! As I was watching this, I was totally rooting for Tracy Rigden to win this category, as much as I love the sound of glazed lemon pecan cookies and mahbooz date cookies. When it came to me purchasing a box of these brownies, the first thing I noticed was how heavy the box was! I knew inside would be a dense, decadent brownie, and I was really excited to try it!
As I got all prepared to enjoy this product, I read the instructions, and it told me to leave it out to thaw or in the fridge for a few hours to thaw. I left it on the kitchen table so I could enjoy it fastest! I was really excited to give this product a try! Once I waited for about an hour, I was ready to dig it. I know on the box said serving size would be 1/16, which would make me need to cut the brownie 4X4, which I was not about to do that. I cut it 3X3, so I would have extra big pieces! I ate 1/3 of the brownie within a few hours, it’s how good this dessert was! Well, I ate it for lunch, dessert for lunch, and a mid-day snack.
Once I cut into the brownie, the delicious dulce de leche started oozing out a little bit. It wasn’t overly sweet, which was my biggest concern. The bit of salt on the top was perfect, in fact, I wished there was a little more sprinkle of salt. It added perfectly to balance out the sweetness, and it really brought out the flavours! I don’t have a problem re-purchasing this dessert again!
